Hi Bruce, really enjoyed your post.

First of all, thanks so much for the shout out. I was honoured to be referenced as having written a classic blog article. Much appreciated.

I enjoyed your blog post. I am in the middle of a project introducing social media into the internal web world of Vancity, where I work. We are quite good at formal documentation and communication, but allowing a vibrant, bottom-up, informal communications channel is key, I believe, to getting people aligned, on board, and asking the right (and tough) questions. All of these are critical to adoption of the project and change management. In the end, this will mean as much to the overall success to any given project as staying within budget and schedule.

Hi Bruce, I like your premise of using collaborative tools to help manage projects. In fact, I believe this will become more and more common place. As employees grow more comfortable with the tools in their personal lives, social tools will become more accepted in the workplace. Many of hte new online PM tools offer collaborative/community environments as integral parts of their tools. I'm willing to bet that in a few years (5? 10?) community-based tools will be common place. It makes sense to share information this way, make it immediately available to the entire team & all stakeholders, and to expose problems to people who might not normally hear about them or have an opportunity to offer solutions to those problems. You provided good examples of benefits and guidelines for usage. Thanks for the article.
